Lecture on Human Rights Delivered at the Police Academy

On 2 June, within the framework of Human Rights Month, the Institute of Law and Human Rights delivered an educational lecture for cadets at the initiative of the Police Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The lecture was organized to enhance the cadets’ theoretical knowledge, broaden their understanding of the protection of human and civil rights and freedoms, raise awareness of international human rights standards and best practices from foreign countries, and discuss current challenges in the field of human rights protection.    

Head of the Human Rights Training and Expertise Department of the Institute, Hamlet Babayev delivered a lecture entitled “The Grounds for the Restricting of Human Rights and Freedoms.”

The lecture provided detailed information on the nature of human rights, the mechanisms ensuring their protection under national and international legal frameworks, the legal grounds for restricting such rights and freedoms, the criteria applied in this regard, and the exceptional circumstances under which such restrictions may be imposed. 

The event concluded with an exchange of views with the cadets, during which current issues related to the topic were discussed.
